蘋果急追生成式AI 傳與媒體機構談判內容授權

〔編譯孫宇青／綜合報導〕《紐約時報》22日引述4名知情人士指出，科技巨擘蘋果公司（Apple Inc.）最近幾週已與主要新聞和出版機構展開談判，希望以價值至少5000萬美元（約15.7億台幣）的長年合約，換取對方允許蘋果在研發生成式人工智慧（AI）系統時使用其新聞素材。

知情人士透露，蘋果聯繫的新聞機構包括《時尚》（Vogue）和《紐約客》（ The New Yorker）雜誌的出版商康泰納仕集團（Conde Nast），《美國國家廣播公司新聞網》（NBC News），以及擁有《時人》（People）雜誌、《野獸日報》（Daily Beast）和《美好家園》（Better Homes & Gardens）雜誌的美國網路公司IAC。

這次談判是蘋果試圖在生成式AI研發競賽中追趕競爭對手的早期例子之一。生成式AI允許電腦像人類一樣創建影像和聊天，AI專家將這項技術比擬為「神經網路」，是透過使用大量照片或數位文字來建構識別模式，例如，透過分析數千張貓的照片，電腦就可以學習辨識貓。

微軟、OpenAI、Google和臉書母公司Meta等多家公司已發布聊天機器人和其他使用生成式AI技術創造的產品，這些工具可以改變人們的工作方式，並產生數十億美元的產值。然而，蘋果一直缺席AI技術的公開討論，且其虛擬助理Siri自發布以來的10年間基本上停滯不前。

儘管蘋果努力接洽，但一些新聞機構對合作意興闌珊，因為在有過與Meta等科技公司多年來斷斷續續的商業合作經驗後，新聞和出版機構對於和矽谷科技公司開展業務已愈發謹慎。

3名知情人士透露，許多出版機構高層擔心蘋果提出的條款過於廣泛。據了解，蘋果在最初的談判中要求使用出版商眾多內容，但出版商擔心可能要承擔蘋果因使用其內容而觸犯的法律責任。

此外，蘋果對於如何將生成式AI應用於新聞產業也含糊其辭，且考量蘋果用戶龐大，這也可能為新聞機構帶來潛在的競爭風險。
